The updated entry-level iPad is expected to make its grand appearance in the fall/autumn of Sept 2022, most likely in a separate event to the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 launch.
While the precedent iPad 10 represents value for money at $319 for a 64 GB Wi-Fi model, the new iPad 10 is still great value for money with upgraded specs valued at $399.
What to expect from the 10th-generation iPad 2022
Hands-free Audio
There is no headphone jack, which means Apple may expect you to use AirPods instead of wired headphones.
Enhanced Camera
A raised camera module redesigned like an iPhone, housing potential upgrades to include a camera sensor, and LED flash, or a microphone.
A14 Chip from iPad Air 4 (2020 edition)
The next-generation iPad 10 should feature 5G cellular, and the processor should be upgraded to the A14 chip used in the iPad Air 4 (4th-generation) and the iPhone 12. Although the A14 won’t be as fast as the M1 in the current iPad Air, it will still be fast and smooth enough to give the iPad 10 a welcome upgrade.
USB-C connectivity and full flat-sided redesign from iPad Pro (2020 edition)
Similarly to the rest of Apple’s hardware, the 10th Gen iPad is likely to use USB-C ports for charging and data transfer as seen in the 3rd-generation iPad Pro (2021 edition).
10.5” screen size from iPad Air 3 (2019 edition)
The new iPad 10 features a 10.5″ retina display in the same resolution as the iPad Air 3. Along with large forehead and chin bezels, and a Touch ID home button, it is framed with a full flat-sides chassis compared to the curved edge of the 5th-generation iPad Pro (2021 edition).
The 10th Gen iPad measures 248 mm in width x 179 mm in height x 6.98 mm in dimension, compared to 250 mm x 174 mm x 7.50 mm for the current 9th-generation iPad (2021 edition).
