Introducing the Venu Sq 2 and Venu Sq 2 Music, Garmin’s affordable GPS smartwatches and fitness trackers, without sacrificing on AMOLED display, built-in sports apps, contactless payments, and music features.
The updated version of the Garmin Venu Sq features a ‘liquid crystal’ touchscreen display with access to Garmin’s ecosystem – for a much lesser price than you have to pay for the Garmin Fenix 7X and the Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar.
We also note that in the new Garmin Venu Sq 2, one of the main flaws of its predecessor has been corrected. The display, now AMOLED provides a brighter and vibrant viewing experience. Here are other interesting new features to know.
1. AMOLED DISPLAY
We see upgraded features from Garmin Epix Gen 2, one of the favorite multisport watches from this year. The results are optimized energy-intense but brighter displays without sacrificing battery life in the process.
The Garmin Venu Sq 2 is a 1.4-inch rectangular, AMOLED touchscreen display with a lightweight aluminum bezel. No official information was released about the screen’s resolution, though sources suggest that it may exceed 240 x 240 pixels (Venu Sq). Its smaller size makes it a great fit for those who prefer smaller wearables.
2. LONGER LASTING BATTERY LIFE
The Garmin Venu Sq 2 has longer battery life than its predecessor despite having a screen – at least in smartwatch mode. The Venu Sq 2 lasted 11 days on a full battery in smartwatch mode in comparison to the first edition Venu Sq, which endured 11 days in (up to 14 hours in GPS mode).
3. NEW HEALTH SNAPSHOT
The Garmin Health Snapshot feature allows users to capture, save and even share a collection of health-related insights recorded during a two-minute session. These include heart rate variability (HRV), heart rate (HR), Pulse Oximetry (blood oxygen levels), respiration rate, and stress level. According to Garmin, the Health Snapshot report gives a sign of your cardiovascular health.
Compared to other Garmin watches, the Venu Sq 2 offers this functionality for the first time.
4. MORE SPORT MODES
With more than 20 sports modes preloaded on the Venu Sq, the Venu Sq 2 now does not fall short. It now has more than 5 added preloaded GPS and indoor sports apps, including walking, running, cycling, and more. A variety of workouts are preloaded to the Venu Sq 2 series, including cardio, strength, yoga, HIIT, and Pilates.
Sport enthusiasts can now choose from dozens of new pre-made workouts or create their own using more than 1,600 exercises, then download them straight to the watch using the Garmin Connect app. Garmin Coach provides free training plans that adapt based on their goals and performance for runners training for their next 5K, 10K or half-marathon. The Venu Sq 2 series will continue to track steps, intensity minutes, calories burned etc.
5. FITNESS TRACKING
The Garmin Venu Sq 2 has all the features you’d expect from a smartwatch in 2022. This includes wrist-based heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring (with sleep score), stress tracking and women’s health tracking (menstrual cycle or pregnancy). It also includes Body Battery energy monitoring, smart notifications, Garmin Pay, and, in the case of the Venu Sq 2 Music, built-in memory to store music.
