Rumor has it that the Wi-Fi version of the Pixel Watch is expected to cost $349. In such a broad range, this puts Google’s first smartwatch on par with the $279 to $329 Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, and beneath the Apple Watch Series 8, which starts at $399 for WiFi only and $499 for cellular. The new Apple Watch SE starts at $249.
The same report also reveals it was reported that the Pixel Watch LTE, which has 4G connectivity for data and calls without a smartphone, would be priced at $399. The Pixel Watch will be offered with three color options; Chalk, Charcoal and Obsidian. If this is accurate, this would mean Google is moving away from the playful colors previously used for its Pixel phones, like Kinda Coral and Clearly White.
Additionally, it appears to be a rather refined and conservative palette, lacking the color gold, bronze and rose gold which have been rather popular among watches in recent years. There could be more colors to be added to the range, but here are the three that we’ve heard about.
Previously, it was reported that the Pixel Watch would be equipped with an Exynos 9110 processor, 1.5 or 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of storage. Since it’s a Google product, native support for Google Maps and Google Assistant is expected, as well as deep integration with Fitbit.
According to Google, the smartwatch will run a “reimagined WearOS experience, and designed to work with all Pixel and Android phones, as well as Pixel Buds Pro and Pixel Buds A-Series wireless earbuds.”
At the Made By Google event on 6 October at 10am ET, besides the Pixel Watch, Google will likely introduce the new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones and new Nest smart home devices. According to a recent hands-on, the Pixel 7 will have a new design and will be shorter than the Pixel 6. We’ll probably have to wait until 2023 for the Pixel Tablet and the rumored Pixel foldable device.
