This is the display we’ve been waiting for. After teasing us in 2022, Samsung is now ready to ship its incredible Odyssey Ark display. This could be the best gaming monitor money can buy if you have the cash, space, and a beefy gaming rig. While we’re still waiting for an exact release date to be announced, the new Odyssey Ark is currently available to pre-order directly from the Samsung website.
It’s not like other monitors. The first thing to notice about it is how curved it is – 1,000R, which is the same as a circle with a radius of 1 meter. It’s a 55-inch, 1,000,000:1 contrast, 3840×2160 resolution, a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, 4K mini-LED display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. There is also a 165Hz refresh rate with FreeSync Premium Pro support, and built-in upscaling of non-4K games. In addition, it includes a powerful sound system with six speakers, and you can connect four HDMI sources simultaneously.
Here’s the most interesting thing about: The hinge.

Samsung Odyssey Ark‘s cockpit mode is what makes it unique. The monitor can be rotated from landscape to portrait mode, but those other monitors don’t have that curvature.
With Samsung’s display, the bottom half is pretty much vertical, and the curve goes over your head. That’s why it’s called cockpit mode: it’s going to make flying and space sims seem incredible. You can also adjust the aspect ratio in landscape from 16:9 to various super-wide resolutions.
The price is expected to be $3,500, which is rather costly. But this could be it, if you’re looking for the ultimate in immersive gaming.
