With its new wireless headphones, Adidas is pushing innovation to new levels. These headphones can be charged with natural or artificial light. A collaboration between Zound Industries and Swedish solar tech company, Exeger, made this item possible.
Unlike other solar cells, the RPT-02 SOL headband is made from a highly flexible material called Powerfoyle. It can be screen-printed on a variety of applications, including cars, walls, accessories, etc. Wearers will be able to know when it’s time to recharge the headphones by means of a light indicator built into the design. The Bluetooth headphones come in two color schemes; night gray and solar yellow color, and has a bluetooth range of 10-meter.
These headphones are made from 87% recycled plastic and will be recyclable in the future. Designed for an active lifestyle, the IPX4-rated design resists sweat and splashes, and its removable parts make it easy to clean.
Another impressive feature of the headphones is their 80-hour playback time. In other words, they can be used in pitch darkness without the need for solar or plug-in charging. In cases where no light is available, the item is equipped with a USB port to charge the battery.
Aside from innovative solar technology, the headphones also offer touch controls for changing songs, adjusting volume, and pausing without touching your phone. The Adidas Headphones app allows you to track battery and charge status in real time when you pair the RPT-02 SOL to your smartphone.
The Adidas RPT-02 SOL headphones were announced on 16 August 2022 and are available to buy now directly from Adidas Headphones US, Adidas Headphones UK and Adidas Headphones AU for a recommended retail price of $229/£199.95/AU$290.
