Design leaks of the GoPro Hero 11 Black reveal the exterior resembling the Hero 10, but offer some new features on the inside.
The features were first spotted by WinFuture, revealing the updated GoPro will be able to capture 27-megapixel still images and 24.7-megapixel stills from video. For comparison, the current Hero 10 Black takes 23-megapixel photos. The video resolution won’t change, though: the new model will still record at 5.3K at 60 frames per second or 4K at 120 fps. Despite limited information availability on the new sensor, even a slightly larger sensor with the same resolution could be a massive improvement for low-light photography.
According to reports, the new model will have two displays: one on the front, next to the camera sensor, and one on the back. HyperSmooth 4.0 video stabilization is enabled on the new GoPro Hero 11 Black processor for steadier shots.
It does not appear that GoPro has made any changes to its hardware. That makes sense, since GoPro’s mount and accessory ecosystem are key to the company’s appeal. Just two years ago, the Hero 9 underwent some big changes involving a huge processor upgrade.
So far, the leaked images of Hero 11 look the same as those of Hero 10, except that there’s now a blue “11” on the side instead of a “10.” There’s still a 2.27-inch screen on the back, a 1.4-inch screen on the front, and big rubbery buttons.
A small improvement would be in line with what GoPro CEO Nick Woodman told investors in February. There will be two new Hero and Max cameras launched this year, bringing the total to four cameras. “We expect to expand that further by the end of 2023”, says Woodman. The company places a great deal of focus on software, both inside its cameras and within the Quik app. The GoPro company is working hard to diversify its offering and reach out to more people than just adventurers.
The Hero 11 Black could be released by the middle of this month, according to WinFuture.
