Apple has slashed the price of its high-end and ultra-powerful M1 Max MacBook Pro by up to $400. Even though Apple is set to unveil its all-new flagship smartphone at its upcoming event, this does not necessarily mean we will no longer be able to buy the current MacBook lineup at massive discounts.
Both the 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro models, which feature the ultra-powerful M1 Max chip, are now cheaper than ever, according to Apple Insider. Along with the M1 Max-powered MacBook Pro, the much cheaper but still premium-priced M1 Pro counterparts are also discounted.
There’s a $400 discount on the 16″ MacBook Pro featuring the M1 Max with 2 terabytes (TB) of storage. The laptop that boasts a 10-core CPU and 24-core GPU costs $3,699. Likewise, the 16″ M1 Max MacBook Pro 1 TB model now sells for only $3,299 following a $400 price cut.
Discounts are also available on the 14″ MacBook Pro. With its $400 discount, the M1 Max, which includes ten CPU cores and 24 GPU cores, along with 2 TB of storage, only costs $3,099 after the discount. The 14-inch MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 1 TB in sleek Space Gray color sells for only $1,999.
Discounts on these MacBook Pro M1 Max and M1 Pro models coincide with Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 launch. Apple is working on releasing its successor even though the M1 Max and M1 Pro MacBook are now on limited-time discounts.
Mac Rumors reports that Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman believes Apple has already begun testing the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips for the upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. The online news outlet reports that earlier predictions suggest the next-generation M2 Max and M2 Pro chips will be iPhone’s first 3 nm chips. Yet, more recent reports indicated that the upcoming M2 variants will likely be 5 nm chips.
