Listings on online stores reveal a variety of colors and combo packs starting at $199.99, each labeled as “new item — coming soon.” This pro version of the Nest Wifi is expected to be announced at Google’s Made By Google event on October 6th.
The device was approved by the FCC in less than a month, and now B&H is selling it as the “Google Nest Wifi Pro 6E Router.” The product page confirms the use of Wi-Fi 6E, the latest available connectivity standard that can reach 9.6Gbps under ideal conditions. The name seems to be “Google Nest Wifi Pro.”
Pricing wise, each Nest Wifi Pro router costs $199 compared to $169 for the Nest Wifi router from 2019 and $99.99 for the relaunched Google Wifi from 2020. Nest’s current router supports Wi-Fi 5 with speeds of up to 2.2Gbps.
It is available in four color options: Snow (white), Linen (light brown), Fog (light blue), and Lemongrass (light yellow/green). It costs $299.99 for a 2-pack and $399.99 for a 3-pack. Apart from that, we know nothing else about the physical design.
There is no mention of the point, which works as a network extender and Google Assistant speaker.
This is a return to the Google Wifi model of offering a single device. In this single-hardware approach, the cost difference is not that much different from what you would pay for a Nest Wifi router and point; two pack bundles right now at $122 (originally $269), while adding a third point would cost you $349 but is currently marked down by $158, at $191. As a result, every unit comes with an Ethernet jack as well. The $100 Google WiFi router is also currently on 50% sale.
