According to a known leaker Tez2 via GTAForums, a new rumour surrounding GTA 6 has set the web ablaze when Rockstar being said to be returning to how it previously approached single-player DLC.
It is stated that the developer is planning to go back to how they were planning future content before GTA Online success boomed. It’s best to take these claims with a pinch of salt even if this does align with previous Rockstar reports.

This content will consist primarily of “cities and missions,” specifically aimed at single-player, not online. Because of GTA Online’s popularity and Red Dead Redemption II’s need for resources, Grand Theft Auto V did not receive any single-player DLC. The story of GTA 5 was one of Rockstar’s most detailed and memorable, which is why there is no post-launch DLC for the single-player mode.
Previously, Grand Theft Auto IV received two standalone single-player content pieces: The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. One of the most well-received add-ons ever made for a video game was the Undead Nightmare expansion for Red Dead Redemption.
“The first wave of ‘new cities and missions’ we will receive as DLC will definitely be planned out before [GTA] VI releases. And Rockstar will be able to allocate resources towards whatever new title they will work on after [GTA] VI release,” they said.
Earlier this year, Rockstar confirmed that GTA 6 is in development. It then provided an update on its progress in July.
According to Bloomberg, the game will feature a female protagonist set in a fictionalized Miami, though nothing has been officially confirmed.
With these post-launch cities in Grand Theft Auto 6 likely to be in Central and South America, their potential to expand and enhance the core story of the game is undeniable. The introduction of such rigorous post-launch DLC in Grand Theft Auto 6 is sure to be welcomed by fans since the game lacks any such content within GTA 5.
