According to user yeux1122 on Korean blog Naver, citing a “US developer source”, the upcoming iPhone has some significant improvements but loses a color option. Those who want a Sierra Blue iPhone Pro will have to stick with the iPhone 13, as the iPhone 14 won’t be available in this color.
Apple’s iPhone 14 will feature faster 30W wired charging, stronger MagSafe magnets, and a new MagSafe battery accessory. Additionally, iPhone 14’s Pro and Pro Max models will offer better battery life due to improved thermal management in the A16 chip. Yeux1122 has had mixed results with Apple leaks, and the loss of Sierra Blue contradicts multiple other rumors and last week’s dummy models. But mostly the claims seem convincing.
In the report, Apple is also said not to be making the titanium iPhone 14 that some rumors suggested. The company did explore titanium but decided that it was too expensive for mass production.
Among the most intriguing claims in the leak are that “prices may be in a completely different direction than expected”. We expect the iPhone 14 – or at least its Pro models – to be more expensive than last year, partly because of improved and more expensive camera components. UK users are more likely to see a price cut than a price increase when the iPhone 14 is released.
In addition, Apple plans to raise the prices of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max by around $100, according to a pair of analyst reports. As a result of this pricing, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max would start at $1099 and $1199, respectively.
The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will both feature 6 GB of RAM with a faster LPDDR5 memory type, according to Digitimes (via MacRumors). It is expected that both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will have 6 GB of RAM, but will use slower LPDDR4X memory.
Still, a faster charging iPhone 14, a more robust MagSafe, and longer battery life for the Pro models would be greatly appreciated.
