So what are the actual numbers? Well, this is something certification agencies are able to reveal, and this round it’s China’s 3C agency that has come up with the goods. According to China’s 3C agency, the latest Apple Watch SE has a battery capacity of 245 mAh in the 40 mm model and 296 mAh in the 44 mmm version, GSM Arena reports.
Next is the Watch Series 8. Featuring a pair of slightly larger case options than the Apple Watch SE, at 41 mm and 45 mm, and these have battery capacities of 282 mAh and 308 mAh. In spite of the latter consuming more power than its non-4G sibling, these don’t differ between Wi-Fi and LTE models of Apple Watch.
These stats are slightly lower than the Series 8’s year-old predecessor, the Series 7, which had a 309 mAh battery in the 41 mm model.
Finally, the upgraded Apple Watch Ultra boasts the highest battery capacity ever fitted to an Apple wearable, at 542 mAh. Compared to its siblings, this watch is considerably larger, not surprising since its battery life is claimed to be three times longer than that of its siblings.
By scaling back and turning off some features, Apple says its next-generation low-power mode will significantly boost battery life on the next generation of smartwatches.
For instance, the Watch Series 8 gets 18 hours of battery life with an always-on display, fall detection, and automatic activity tracking but the optional low-power mode lets you axe some features and double that battery life to 36 hours.
With 36 hours of normal use with an always-on display, the Watch Ultra tracks automatic workouts, and constant heart rate. The Watch Ultra’s life jumps from 36 to 60 hours with its low-power mode, good for what Apple calls a “multi-day adventure” that includes 35 minutes of app use, 15 hours of exercise, 15 hours of sleep tracking, over 600 time checks and three minutes of voice calls.
The price of the all-new Apple Watch Ultra starts at $799.99.
