Using the iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max’s camera in third-party camera apps such as Snapchat, Instagram, or TikTok may cause a shaking image or buzzing noises, according to Apple spokesperson Alex Kirschner.
Considering that Apple is releasing an update, it appears that it has to do with the iPhone and its APIs rather than having to do with third-party applications.
Apple’s statement doesn’t provide any specific information as to what’s causing this issue. There’ve been rumors that it may have been related to the optical image stabilization system on the phone, given that the purpose of the system is to move parts of the camera around. Despite having the same system, Apple’s website says the regular iPhone 14 doesn’t seem to have this problem, but the Pro uses a “second-generation” version.
There’s no doubt that this’ll not be the first update that resolves a camera issue for the iPhone 14 generation — iOS 16.0.1 was released last week for Apple’s latest phones, fixing the issue whereby some photos turned out blurred “when zooming in landscape orientation on iPhone 14 Pro Max.”
Additionally, the update fixes a handful of other iPhone issues as well, including a bug that causes the display to appear black during device setup; a bug that causes VoiceOver gestures to become unresponsive when the device is rebooted; and a problem with touch input that was unresponsive on the screen of some iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11.
Another issue that had been bothering iOS 16 users was the new copy and paste permission that asked users whether to allow an app to have access to the system clipboard. In spite of this, the prompt continued to appear for users even after they allowed a specific app to have access to the clipboard, causing frustration.
There’s now an option for users to update to iOS 16.0.2 by going to the Software Update menu within the iPhone Settings app and selecting the update. As a note, it’s worth mentioning that some of these bugs have already been fixed because of iOS 16.1 beta 2, released by developers earlier this week.
