If you own one of the most popular smart speakers in the Echo range courtesy of Amazon, here’s some great news. Amazon has officially confirmed that fourth-generation Echo Dot speakers will soon be able to act as range extenders for Eero mesh Wi-Fi networks, besides having a new temperature sensor and new tap gesture controls. That means that if you have an Amazon Eero mesh Wi-Fi system in your house, then your internet connection is about to get even better for free.
This brand-new Wi-Fi extender feature is dubbed by Amazon “Eero Built-in”. Powered by Eero’s TrueMesh software technology, the Echo Dot speakers sync with the wider Wi-Fi network to offer a more stable connection across the space by functioning as an additional node.
Both Amazon Echo smart home speakers and the Eero mesh Wi-Fi systems complement each other perfectly to elevate the performance and overall user experience. If you own an Eero mesh Wi-Fi network at home, then every new Echo speaker you buy not only delivers its own functionality but will also improve Eero’s.
You can set up Alexa smart home routines with the Amazon Echo Dots based on room temperature. This means your smart fan turns on when it’s too hot or your intelligent thermostat turns up when it’s too cold.
In the past, you could tap on top of the Dot to snooze the alarm. However, now you can pause and resume music, dismiss timers, or end a call with the gesture. The upgraded features will be coming to all Amazon’s upcoming Echo speakers.
The Echo Dot (4th Gen) is available in a stylish deep twilight blue, charcoal and glacier white color and costs $49.99 each. The Echo Dot with Clock comes in a brand-new twilight blue option, on top of the original glacier white, for $59.99.
Families can too enjoy an upgrade with two new kid-friendly features on the Echo Dot Kids. Retails at $59.99, the Amazon Eco Dot Kids features new interactive owl and dragon designs that can talk to your child in owl and dragon-inspired sounds. There’s a two-year warranty on the characterful Dots, as well as a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids Plus.
